View Full Version : Fighting
So I seem to be getting a lot of questions over how a fight is handled if its done over email. Everyone needs to understand something...if you're fighting over email, its handled as if its happening the day the first attack was made. If you don't have time to get online to do the fight in some sort of chat, you're not going to be able to use any date based transformation (Oozaru or Devil's Star). If you want to start a fight with someone, then stall until you can get either of these transformations, you need to try to fly away or run away from the fight and hope that your opponent tries to catch you.
It's simply not fair for a fight to be started and for the other party to just not get online until they can use their transformation. If you have a problem with this, email me, reply to this, or PM me.
FAQ updated so there should be no more questions about this.
Have a little scenario for you.
2 guys start attacking each other in emails, and we'll just say one of them is a Saiyan or Devil. Whatever the reason is, the fight drags on for many days while other players continue to get updates. Eventually a player comes across the 2 people fighting, and it just so happens to be a full moon(Saiyan) or a devil's star(Devil). He is a Saiyan/Devil, so he's transformed, and attacks the 2 people fighting...What happens?
I'm starting to think timed transformations cause a lot of problems.
Problem might be more than transformations actually.
If 2 guys get into an email fight and they don't stall or anything, but the fight still takes many days because of how slow email fights are....What if one of them asked all his friends to come help him? Since it takes so long to do an email fight, the friends would make it there for sure. If the fight was done on AIM or something the day the fight started, the friends would never had made it there in time.

Ive always felt the rule is once a fight starts, there is no way to "jump in"... well atleast for a pvp fight. In a pvp fight, everything is shut down. There are no sensu use (button), and no one has the ability to "jump in" unless they have IT (and ive argued they also need telepathy so that theyd "know" their friend was in trouble).
I believe the refs are beginning to work out a FAQ on how timed transformations can work. As long as we bring it all into the open now, there should be no room for stragglers later. Timed transformations are a powerful ally, especially in the beginning. It needs to be said that stalling shouldnt be the way to make/break a fight.

Punch is thrown, everyone in the immediate area can participate in the fight , no one else, barring IT.
This would all be fixed if there were 2-3 updates a day and refs on AIM.
So...If I ever get caught in a fight with someone, all I need to do is have my friends come to the spot the fight took place, and wait for me to die...Then after the fight they all jump the guy that just killed me?

It doesn't matter if your friend gets a transformation and tries to help. I don't care if a friend shows up, but they have to know Fly and Detect Powerlevel or Instant Transmission. Otherwise, that friend would not have been there the day the fight started.

Exactly. I dont agree with Mado. I do not think that fly/scouter/detect should allow people to come in the middle of a fight.
About the "jump people after its over", Im not sure. I dont think that should happen either, but that is up to the ref. If a person has telepathy, then maybe you can be jumped after a fight, but if the group just "happens" to land at the same area as their teammate getting clobbered, that is cheating. I think there has to be some regulation on how pvp can happen since this isnt like an MMO...
People really DIE in this game. WHAT DONT OU UNDERSTAND!!! (sorry... i couldnt help myself, lol)

Yeah these timed transformations seem to be causing a lot of problems. You not only have the problem of people attempting to stall via not responding to emails until the date of the xformation, but also the problem of location and additional characters.
I have been in situations where I'll receive an emails that will say something like "You walk into the woods and see a saiyan fighting a bear." Obviously someone has just been sent another email where they've got a bear attacking them or something. If they had been able to go onto AIM right away then they would have finished the fight before I got there. The question here is how long can they stay fighting a bear w/o finishing? A fight is really only supposed to last ONE turn/move (correct me if I'm wrong refs). But if you're doing a fight via email then it can last a whole week. Everyone else could be moving around doing whatever so how can you decide if they can join a fight? Should it just be if someone gets in a fight then if someone else can reach them within one turn they can join the fight?
In the series fights took numerous episodes. And you had people jumping in and out of the fight all the time. So I don't know how you'd want to handle that.
I think that there's all this extra outside stuff going on in PM that maybe you could limit it to just in-game stuff. I.e. the telepathy or detect powerlevel thing instead of letting someone tell his buddies "help me!" outside of PM so that in-game they all of a sudden drop what they're doing and go to his location. I'm guilty of doing this as well, but if there was a rule where you couldn't do that then that limits the ability of people to all gang up on someone unless they're actually traveling together or have the ability to talk/IT in-game.
I dunno, just my two cents.

I feel that Timed Transformations should be changed. i'll make another thread with the idea.

You both realize that what you are saying would mean that Aku could NOT have interrupted my fight with Dalun right? LOL
You're going against your own actions.
~~~~~~~~~~
This started with me running into a saiyan talking to an NPC
It was Dalun. I asked him a question, didn't like what he said and replied
These are the emails:
From me
Speaking to Dalun "How Dare you speak Me Like that!" I attack him with a flying uppercut with BK and the saibamen flank him and do the same!
From Cloud:
He dodges your attack, but is hit by the two Saibamen, able to partially block the attacks and takes ??? damage. He yells, "Didn't your mother ever teach you good manners!? Catch me if you can biotch!" He then flies into the air and heads west.
Then added:
Before the Saiyan can make to the door of the mansion, a black blur rushes past him heading directly towards you. You recognize the blur as AkuTenshi.
"Now lets not play games Rager. You want to threaten me with bribes, and attack friends, and I WILL respond," the form roars at you. It rushes one of your Saibamen with a sword attack.
A woman following AkuTenshi stands off near the door with Dalun.
~~ Lets re-cap
I attack Dalun (Fight is started) Dalun starts to move away but stops as soon as he sees his friend AKU who tries to save him. Aku Brings a Girl.
Sounds like an interuption to me!
~~~
From me:
He blocks that attack, then that same saibaman Attacks dalun.
I use the scouter on all 3 of them. I also get a better look at the girl.
Cloud:
The Saibaman manages to partially block AkuTenshi's attack. It takes 1445 damage.
The Saibaman attempts to catch Dalun, but Dalun rushes out of the door with the woman blocking the way.
(I wont post your PLs)
You guys have to use a turn to heal if you want to eat a sensu bean so I've taken away your sensu beans. If you want to use one you have to let me know.
You get in your fighting stance. AkuTenshi rushes at you with his sword. Block or dodge?
(this attack was sent to me on the 17th at 8:25pm I didnt read it to the following morning)
~
I sent an update about a transformation but got it back saying that I should check the news update. then I got another Update saying that:
The beautiful blond woman comes at you, slashing with her swords
~~~
So lets recap again.
Tried to attack dalun but cause he moved away then the girl blocks a door the attack could not be completed. dalun would have died from that attack.
I didnt realize that moving a space was a form of a dodge, and normally when someone blocks an attack form landing one some one else it then hits that person instead.
It hit no1.
I now cant use my sensu at the same time that aku is now attacking me. Aku having full Pl or atleast higher current then me. My current was very low and was planing on healing before this fight. got screwed out of that.
Because I got word that Aku was going to attack me only a few hour befopre I transform I can No longer use that feature thusly getting screwed out of it.
Im threatened to be put on sleep mode cause I havent been able to respond cause of computer issues ( I actually typed this while offline)
~~~
So what I have gathered from all of this is that If I move/fly away I will automatically dodge both attacks. Moving away from the battle will also change the day being the fight isn't happeneing so then I can transform correct? Once transformed I then Can fly back to aku and fight? Acorrding to the rules I think thats all allowed. loophole?
Will continue fight after all is solved.

I'm agreeing with you. I used the system the way it is set up now to escape but I'm all for changing the system to clarify what could happen during a fight and preventing stuff like what happened during our fight. That's why I said that I'm guilty of abusing the system. ^_^ Not my fault your saibamen are too beastly for me to handle. :-p
What happened was Dalun dodged your attack, and blocked your Saibaman's attack, then said he wanted to use his turn to fly away. Aku and the girl show up as Dalun is starting to fly away, so I guess Dalun decided to stay for a turn or two. You then wanted your Saibaman to self destruct on Dalun. First of all, this means the Saibaman has to latch onto Dalun. If the girl blocks the way and Dalun flies out, then that's it. Both were rolled for. You then stated you wanted to eat the Sensu then transform. Aku attacked you on the 16th. You don't get a transformation on the 16th, and you can't just wait around and not do anything to stall until you get a transformation. Perhaps if you had said you fly after Dalun, or tried to fly away, or did something in-game to buy yourself time, but you can't just not do anything in game and wait until the 5th or 18th so you can transform.
I understand that you had internet problems, but you were self-training your character, so you should have at least emailed Cloud or posted on the forum that you were having internet problems.
The only 'problem' I see with all of this is that perhaps Aku shouldn't have been able to come to Dalun's aid. This is the thing that needs to be addressed. I will clarify this in the rules and the FAQ. From now on if you want a friend to rush to your aid, they have to be able to get to you in one turn from when the first attack was made for that fight.
Aku has already said if you want to not fight, its fine with him. So its your choice. Either fight Aku (without the star), or don't. The problem here is not whether or not Dalun got away, he successfully flew away. You can attempt to follow him if you want, that's fine, but he did successfully get away.

You can fly to anyone in 'one' turn who you've been to before. I've always thought that was a little dumb.

I did fly away right away. I think it was just a timing issue that made it seem like I stayed there as I also received updates stating that "someone in black flies by as you dash out of the room."
Cloud probably just didn't read my email until after he updated you or something. Tbh, I had actually thought I could fly away and get you to follow me. I was surprised as well to see Aku fly by me into the room.
Thanks for clarifying things guys! I am yet again amazed at the amount of thought that needs to be put into all areas of this game.

Well if he dodged the attack then why wasn't it stated that way? Little things like that cause this confusion.
I try not to question the refs but it seemed like I was getting fucked.
I understand now.
As for the training, to clarify that, I was not doing it. I had my G/f click it once or twice for me. She knew I had internet problems and helped me out.
I would not have her make posts or character updates for me.
I think the Router is working now So I think I should be fine internet wise.
Honestly this whole thing makes me not want to fight. These stupid little thing are putting me behind in upates So should they still attack me, I'll fight. If they really didnt want to attack then lets forget this whole thing happened.

That's fine, I kind of assumed Palmtop was probably training for you. I enjoy Planet Mado and the reffing, its just frustrating as hell when this kind of stuff happens. Again, it always seems to arise because of someone having internet access issues. Last time it was Cloud's laptop not working properly, now its your router.
Unless Aku has changed his mind, I say we call it a wash.

What I didn't make clear is that Dalun used his turn to fly away at the same exact moment Aku showed up. My bad. Aku was right next to the area where the battle was taking place so it didn't take him any time at all to show up.

This may sound a bit crazy and I am new but should both characters make their turn and have that equate to a cirtain amount of game time there fore the fight doesn't move on till both characters have made their actions, or have I got the wrong end of the stick here.
