i found this picture and erased out all the background and put on the wind filter with gimp. i don't know what else i could do to make it look better. i was thinking of putting an aura effect like in the show but i'm not sure how. does anyone have any ideas

I would suggest googling some tutorials. I'm not sure about gimp, but I know there are a ton for Photoshop.

That's actually pretty good for someone just starting out. Usually people new to making graphics make them with a lot of colors that clash and too much going on. I'm a fan of things simple, as I'm sure you can tell by the layout/graphics of the main Planet Mado site and the forum.

i made this one from screen captures of dbz kai. it took a lot of work. i still don't know how to make an aura like in the show. i would like to add an aura to it.

I like the Blue one better, not only does it look better, blue better suits Vegeta.
If you remember he was pissed about having to wear a pink shirt and that color isnt too far

You are both correct. Vegeta has a purple aura in the 1st season but then later on he has a blue aura.
